Barsecco courts ‘younger, hipper crowd’ in Brickell

The owners of Segafredo Brickell have converted it into this edgy restaurant and lounge.

“After about a decade of Segafredo being in operation, we felt we needed a new concept to keep up with the demands of our clients and market,” partner José Vazquez says. “Now, we’ve created a cooler, brighter, fresher look. The decor is a lot warmer, sexier and has a cozier vibe. We would like appeal to a slightly younger, hipper crowd that are up to date on trends while still catering to the local Brickell audience.”

Highlights include truffle deviled eggs ($14), Cuban bao ($15), carnitas tacos ($14), lobster roll sandwich ($24), grilled-watermelon-and-black-tiger-shrimp salad ($21), seafood linguini ($28), garbanzo shiitake cakes ($21) and New York strip steak with demi-glace ($32).

An extensive cocktail menu includes a section of prosecco libations ($13), such as the Elderflower Sparkler with gin.

A vine-covered arbor at the entrance of a black-and-white striped, canopied terrace with two bars beckons diners inside, where a central oak tree anchors tufted banquettes, neon signs, elegant chandeliers and a Fabergé egg-inspired DJ booth. A mural wildly reimagines a famous portrait of French duchesses.

Hours are from 4 p.m. to 3 a.m., and DJs spin nightly.
